As trading began on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the Nigerian Naira continued to show steady movement in both the official and parallel foreign exchange markets. At the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) official window, the Naira stood at roughly 1,332.49 against the US dollar. Market data and tracker insights from the Central Bank of Nigeria indicated ongoing foreign exchange turnover, keeping the currency inside a tight range of 1,329 to 1,333. In the parallel, or black, market, the dollar attracted a small premium. Bureau De Change operators and street dealers quoted an average buying rate of 1,365 to 1,370 and selling rates of 1,375 to 1,390. That put the parallel market margin about 45 to 55 Naira above the official window, driven by continuing demand for international trade, tuition payments, and travel. Financial analysts attributed the official market's relative balance to recent monetary policy changes, liquidity management by the Central Bank of Nigeria, and strong external reserves.
