Chi Nedum has alleged that officers of the Imo state police command extorted ₦15,000 from him. In his account, he said he and his brother were allegedly forced to pay ₦15,000 by three police officers in Owerri. According to him, his vehicle began making an unusual noise, prompting him to park at a corner and summon a mechanic. As they were test-driving the car to diagnose the issue, the officers got into their vehicle and accused them of improper parking. He said that even after they explained the situation, the officers insisted on money, and they had no choice but to hand over ₦15,000. Nedum described the episode as unjust and an abuse of authority. He urged people to tag the Nigerian police force and the Owerri police command so that what he called the "bad eggs" in the force could be identified. He also recorded a video of the encounter.
