The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, has taken into custody a 50-year-old man, Mr. Kazeem Adeoye, over allegations that he assaulted a 44-year-old woman, Mrs. Oladeyinde Morufat, and her daughter, Mariam, in Ifo Local Government Area. The corps' state commander, Cmdr. (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, announced the arrest in a statement released Tuesday, October 13, 2026, by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi. The statement said the incident happened at Shonde, Iyana-Ifote, Lisa. The matter was reported on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at about 4:45 p.m., when the complainant came to the Olayemi/Demokula Divisional Headquarters to report an alleged attack on herself and her daughter, according to the statement. The complainant said she was coming home from church with her children when a dispute broke out between her and the suspect's sons, Abdullah and Ope, who were on a motorcycle. She alleged that the suspect later entered her compound without permission and started verbally abusing her family members. She also alleged that, during the confrontation that followed, the suspect's wife hit her on the head with a wooden stick, leaving her bleeding. The complainant later found that her daughter, Mariam, had a visible cut on her forehead, which she blamed on an alleged physical assault by the suspect. After the report was made, Divisional Officer SC Innocent Matthew ordered a two-officer team to arrest the suspect for investigation, the statement said. During questioning, Mr. Adeoye reportedly admitted that he entered the complainant's compound. He said his children told him that her children were intentionally blocking their path while they were riding a bicycle. The suspect said he went to the compound to warn the family, but the encounter turned into a physical fight. He reportedly admitted that the complainant and her daughter were both injured in the incident. When the injuries to the complainant and her daughter were seen, the Divisional Officer directed that they be taken immediately to the Government Health Centre in Lisa for medical assessment and treatment. The suspect was detained pending further investigation and the receipt of the medical report. Then, on Monday, October 12, 2026, after preliminary investigations, the case file and the suspect were handed over to the Ifo Area Command for more investigation and possible prosecution, according to the statement. The State Commander called on members of the public to settle disputes peacefully and to promptly report violent incidents to the proper authorities. He also stressed the need to protect children and to ensure that allegations of violence are fully investigated by the relevant authorities.
