A TikToker has recommended that women postpone marriage until they are at least 30, saying that entering matrimony at a young age can result in later regret. In her view, women who marry at 27 or 28 remain too young, and those who wed earlier might not yet fully understand themselves or what they seek in a marriage.
She recounted meeting her husband when she was 18 and marrying him at 21. She added that she now feels she should not have married so young. "Men like to catch you very young, before your brain develops. I met my husband at 18 and I married him at 21. I shouldnt have gotten married that young," she said.
The TikToker contended that a woman in her early 20s often has few reasons to marry beyond a desire to move out of her parents' house or to have a wedding. She stated that by age 30, a woman is more likely to have a clearer sense of herself, understand her preferences, and know what she can and cannot accept, which can help her make a sound decision about marriage.
She further argued that early marriage may lead to an unequal relationship, especially if the husband is the only earner while the wife is still building her own life. In her assessment, this financial reliance on a spouse can make a woman more inclined to become a "yes sir" person in the marriage.
