Federal Capital Territory Minister and Rainbow Coalition leader Nyesom Wike has stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) cannot win in Rivers State in the upcoming general elections, asserting that electoral outcomes in the state will remain predetermined. Wike made the remarks on Saturday, October 3, at an event organized by Uzugbani Ekpeye in Ahoada East and West Local Government Areas. He used the occasion to dismiss the political chances of his former ally and current ADC vice-presidential candidate, Chibuike Amaechi. The minister urged voters to evaluate candidates on verifiable track records rather than political rhetoric, pointing to Amaechi's electoral performance since their political split. Wike recalled that he served as director-general of Amaechi's successful 2011 gubernatorial campaign, but argued that the former governor has not secured significant electoral support on his own since then. "I was the DG of the campaign in 2011... Now, since I left him in 2011, after 2011, mention one election that he has ever won," Wike said, referring to subsequent election cycles in which Amaechi's faction or preferred candidates failed to deliver the state. "So, from 2011, when he became the second time governor, down to now, the result has been written, then let him forget it. The result will always be written; he will not win again." Wike's comments underscore the continuing political rivalry between the two former allies in Rivers State ahead of the general elections.
