Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen together in public on Thursday, October 15, marking their first joint appearance since they unexpectedly came back to Britain. The outing was also their first official engagement together since the family relocated to the United Kingdom. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Nottingham at about 10:35 a.m. local time. As they met with supporters, Markle told one well-wisher, 'it’s great to be back.' Nottingham holds significance for the couple: it was the city where they appeared together after announcing their engagement in 2017. A fan showed them a photo from that time, and Meghan responded, 'That’s so special.' On Thursday, the pair were greeted by cheers from a crowd of roughly 100 people at 10:35 a.m. They spent around 15 minutes walking toward the Community Recording Studio (CRS), pausing to speak with those gathered. They shook hands and bent down to talk with young schoolchildren. Meghan received several bouquets of flowers and a helium-filled balloon. The visit began at CRS, a charity founded in 1991 that provides young people with access to music and recording resources. Its offerings have since expanded to include creative activities, sports, mentoring, and youth development. At CRS, Prince Harry met Jah Digga, a musician, poet, and youth mentor who used the charity as a child. Jah Digga has discussed how the support he received there helped him leave gang involvement. In the meantime, Meghan took part in a bracelet-making and confidence-building workshop with young girls.
