Early-morning video shows group chasing Burna Boy's Bugatti outside Lagos club at 6:30am

A scene outside a Lagos nightclub has raised concerns about the conduct of young people in the country. Footage circulating on social media depicts a Bugatti that is reported to be Burna Boy's as it departs a Lagos club in the early hours of Monday, September 21. Although the hour was only 6:30am, young males and boys had assembled outside the venue to run after affluent Nigerians in high-end vehicles. The Bugatti, said to be Burna Boy's, was pursued by a crowd of young men. Several came dangerously near the car, creating a risk of an accident. Despite the danger, they kept up the chase in the hope of obtaining money from Burna. A tall man thought to be a bodyguard for Burna Boy can be seen running beside the Bugatti, trying to hold the youths back. He eventually climbed into another vehicle and sped away behind the Bugatti after it had gotten clear of the group seeking handouts. The young men then turned their attention to a different car, reported to belong to singer Shallipopi. The episode has prompted debate about begging in Lagos and why young, physically capable men are outdoors at 6:30am asking for money rather than working.
