Peter Obi, an NDC presidential candidate, has once again raised questions about President Tinubu's whereabouts and urged Nigerians to keep praying for Tinubu's safe return. In a statement shared on social media this morning, Obi said that while world leaders are in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, Tinubu has chosen to be absent for the third time in a row. Obi noted that Ghana's President, John Mahama, is at the 81st session of the UNGA and delivered a remarkable speech. Obi said it was against that backdrop that he is asking where the president of Africa's most populous nation is and why he is not attending the UNGA. He called on Nigerians to continue praying for Tinubu's return and for his leadership in addressing the many challenges facing the country.
Obi went on to praise Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama for what he described as a remarkable address at the 81st United Nations General Assembly. He said the international community commended Mahama's leadership and the substance of the speech. According to Obi, it serves as a reminder of what leadership can achieve when skill, ability, empathy, dedication and integrity are devoted to serving a nation.
Against that background, Obi said many people are asking where the president of Africa's most populous nation is. He pointed out that Nigeria has more than 200 million people, more than Ghana, yet its leader has been absent from the global stage for three consecutive UNGAs. Obi argued that Nigeria's president should be representing the country and providing leadership for Africa at the international level, but he has not attended any of the three global gatherings. He asked where he is, particularly as the country faces significant challenges both domestically and internationally. Although Vice President Kashim Shettima was present, Obi said the question remains: where is the President? He again urged continued prayers for Tinubu's return and for his leadership in addressing the many challenges confronting the nation. Obi ended by expressing optimism about the possibility of a new Nigeria.
