Meta Debuts AI Glasses Without Cameras — Technology

Meta has unveiled its first AI glasses without a camera. The new model is called the Ray-Ban Meta Audio, and it focuses on audio and AI features instead of visual recording.

Design and Battery

The glasses weigh just 43 grams, which is lighter than the camera-equipped models . Removing the camera allowed for a slimmer, more normal-looking frame .

Meta says the glasses last up to 12 hours on a single charge. The included charging case adds another 48 hours of battery life .

Features

Without a camera, the glasses are built for listening and talking. They have open-ear speakers and six microphones . Users can take calls, listen to music or podcasts, use live translation, and talk to Meta's AI assistant, Muse .

Price and Availability

The Ray-Ban Meta Audio starts at $349 . Pre-orders are open now, and they ship on October 13 .

The glasses come in two styles, Clubmaster and Burbank, with 23 color and lens combinations. Prescription lenses are supported .

Why No Camera

Meta's camera glasses have faced privacy criticism, sometimes called "pervert glasses" by critics . By removing the camera, this new model avoids the main concern about secret filming. Meta says the camera-free design was planned for years, not just a reaction to backlash .
